Children 6-15

What is work experience:

Work experience is a great way for young people to find out more about the world of work and also obtain the necessary experience.

Work experience can:

  • Help support your studies
  • Inform you about career and / or academic decisions
  • Demonstrate your ability to prospective employers
  • Make a difference to your CV and gain references

 The Work Experience Scheme:

At Bromley we run a work experience scheme, that offers placements each year in a variety of departments across the Council. Placements are available to young people in Year 10 and above who are looking for work experience. They run for 1 to 2 weeks in term time, and you have to be in school or college to be eligible.

Work experience and employment will help you develop new skills, learn new things, and create a record of employment.

Your first job may not be the type of job you want forever, but it’s a job that will give you skills and experience which you can use to build for your dream career!

The Bromley Youth Employment Scheme

Bromley have created a youth employment scheme alongside Bromley Education Business Partnership (BEBP), which aims to place young people in paid employment. As your corporate parents, it is our responsibility to support both your education and your progression into employment.

We also aim to improve our work experience scheme (see above) by expanding the roles we offer to young people, we’d like to arrange places with directors in the council. At Bromley we have an extensive range of departments and are committed to placing you where benefits you best.

Lastly, we aim to increase our apprenticeship offers- which is a great way to learn and earn and we help to prepare you by hosting interview and CV skills workshops and job seekers advice!
